Living in the Shade

Finding a shady spot in the yard is everybody’s desire
For it doesn’t take a lot of time, for shade to soon expire People picking up their chairs and moving from spot to spot Looking for a refreshing shadow to escape from being hot

As the day wears on, the “shade search” has you on the go
But now you’ve moved around so much, you’re moving awfully slow You’re very far from where you started in your constant “coolness quest” Maybe now that the sun is down, you can chill and get some rest

This comical scene made me think of a different kind of shade The most powerful shelter anywhere, the strongest ever made Underneath the wings of God; the Refuge of the Ages His shade won’t up and disappear like nature’s does in stages

He’ll cover you with His feathers, He’ll shelter you with wings He’ll refresh your soul with a soothing touch that only His shade brings You don’t have to move from place to place searching for His love For the great I AM has always sent His shade from up above

The book of Psalms is rich with words that beautifully explain All the ways that God is faithful, through the sunshine and the rain A solid rock, a mighty fortress, a tower that is strong A shield and buckler for protection when things are going wrong

For many times the heat of battle will knock us to the ground But God can hear our prayer for help, before we make a sound I can picture His wings of strength spreading far and wide And once again He’s reassuring…that He is on our side

So if you find you’re running around trying to find some “shade” Think about the time you’re wasting…it’s not an even trade Shade and shadows come and go, but God remains in place Under His wings is where you’ll find...the shadow of His grace
